On-site SEO It's important that you build your website search engine friendly. There are a few basic rules to follow:

No Flash - you should try to keep Flash animation to a minimum because search engines can't
read flash. In fact, try to keep all animation to a minimum. Dazzling your visitors with
fancy graphics won't do you much good anyway, especially when there are a significant
amount of visitors that can't properly display animation and will basically get a blank page
when they visit your website. Keep your pages simple and full of real text. If you use
images, make sure you use the description tag.

Content is King - if you want the attention of the search engines, then load your site with
great content. The more original content you have, the more the search engines will view
your website as a resource and will send you lots of free search engine traffic. Also,
write your content for humans, not search engines. Don’t try to game the search engine
algorithms because more than likely your site will get punished in the search results.

Page names - if you have twenty pages on your site, give each page a unique name that
relates to the topic on that particular page. By naming each and every page differently,
you'll open the door for a variety of search traffic.

File names - the names of your files makes a difference on how they will rank in search
results. Example: the filename pure.html doesn't have nearly as much significance as the
filename purebredcollie.html. Name your files wisely and the search engines will reward
you with bonus traffic.

Keep it simple - highly complex websites typically equate to highly difficult to read and
navigate. The attention span of a visitor to your site is miniscule; don't overburden the
visitor with irrelevant content or a flashy design. Keep your web design simple and deliver
the information visitors want to see.
